Venice, Italy – A new full-electric boat model that combines the traditional charm of Venetian water taxis with an innovative, sustainable approach.

This marks another step towards promoting sustainability in the tourism sector, and is the result of a collaboration between Repower, Cantiere Serenella, and Nauta Design.

Repower, a group active in the energy and sustainable mobility sectors, premiered Lucietta, the first full-electric Venetian water taxi, during the sixth edition of the Salone Nautico di Venezia. The innovative vessel was developed by the Swiss Group in collaboration with Nauta Yachts for the design and Cantiere Serenella of Murano for its artisanal construction.

Lucietta represents a new paradigm for electric urban mobility in Venice, striking a perfect balance between tradition and innovation. It reinterprets the historic charm of the Venetian water taxi with a modern, sustainable design. The boat was designed and built taking into consideration the inputs collected from a selection of Venetian taxi drivers via a survey, which helped define the necessary specifications for a vessel born for the lagoon but also at home in other environments.

Lucietta will also be a star at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival – La Biennale di Venezia (August 27 – September 6, 2025). Repower has been a long-standing partner of the festival, promoting a culture of “soft mobility.”

The boat features a contemporary design, deeply rooted in Venetian history and tradition. It also builds on the legacy of Repower, Repower’s second electric boat, which received an Honorable Mention at the 2020 Compasso d’Oro Award.

Lucietta also sets a benchmark in the sector for its innovation, thanks to the introduction of several cutting-edge materials. These include carbon fiber for the hull and recycled glass from Murano glassworks. Rehub, a Murano-based startup and winner of the 2023 Repower Special Award for Innovation, found a way to recycle and utilize this glass on the new vessel.

Lucietta’s compact dimensions (9,30 meters long, 2,25 meters wide, 2,10 meters high) allow it to navigate the canals with agility, respecting the city’s structural constraints. Unlike traditional taxis, it offers more onboard space and can carry up to 14 people, with no vibrations or harmful emissions and absolute silence.

From a technical standpoint, Lucietta incorporates the best of electric technology: propulsion is provided by a 200 kW full-electric motor powered by a 180 kWh battery pack. This allows Lucietta to reach a top speed of 30 knots. More importantly, when operating at the regulated speeds in the lagoon (7-20 km/h), it can cover an entire workday without needing to recharge.

The Lucietta project represents a significant milestone for Repower in electric boating and reaffirms the Group’s commitment to promoting sustainability in the tourism sector. This sector is increasingly sensitive to topics like energy efficiency and e-mobility. Sustainability is poised to be one of the key growth drivers for the tourism industry in the coming years. In the realm of electric boating, Repower’s commitment to design remains unwavering, bolstered by the honorable mention received by its previous native electric boat model, Repower, in 2019. This dedication to aesthetics led to the selection of Nauta Design to craft Lucietta’s elegant form.
