Riyadh, KSA – Skyscanner has introduced a series of artificial intelligence-powered travel tools and product enhancements aimed at helping travelers discover destinations, plan trips more efficiently and save on travel costs.
The global travel platform, which serves more than 160 million monthly users, said the latest updates reflect changing consumer travel habits and form part of its broader strategy to make trip planning more personalized, flexible and budget-friendly across its website and mobile app.
The new beta features include AI Explore, a destination discovery tool that allows users to search for travel ideas using natural language prompts. Available initially in English-speaking markets, the feature combines flight pricing, weather, travel times and destination insights to generate personalized recommendations and enable side-by-side comparisons between destinations.
According to Skyscanner, early testing showed strong engagement, with around 60% of users proceeding to browse flight options suggested through AI Explore.
The company has also launched an AI-powered Road Trip Planner, which creates customized driving itineraries based on users’ travel dates, vehicle pick-up locations and preferred route styles. The tool recommends scenic, cultural, adventure or fastest routes, while suggesting suitable car rental options and highlighting attractions and stopovers along the journey.
“Innovation has been at the core of Skyscanner for more than two decades,” said Brian Batista, Chief Executive Officer of Skyscanner. “As travel becomes increasingly complex, we are investing in technologies that help travelers make more informed decisions with greater confidence. Artificial intelligence has the potential to simplify every stage of the travel experience, from discovering destinations to planning complete itineraries.”
Beyond its AI initiatives, Skyscanner announced updates to several existing products.
Its Drops feature, available exclusively through the mobile app, now offers up to 822% more daily fare deals by analyzing more than 100 billion flight prices and highlighting routes where fares have fallen by at least 20% over the previous seven days.
The company also introduced a Flight Tracker that provides real-time flight information, including departure and arrival times, flight status, gate assignments, airport lounge details and baggage claim information for millions of flights worldwide.
In addition, Skyscanner expanded its accommodation marketplace, increasing the number of listed properties from 3.5 million to more than 5 million. The platform now includes a broader range of lodging options, from hostels and luxury hotels to campsites, capsule hotels, rural retreats and floating accommodation.
Skyscanner said the latest product enhancements are designed to help travelers navigate increasingly complex travel decisions while providing more personalized recommendations and greater opportunities to reduce travel costs.
