Brazzaville, Republic of Congo – The Republic of Congo celebrated a landmark moment last week with the official opening of Kempinski Hotel Brazzaville, the nation’s first purpose-built luxury hotel. The high-profile ribbon-cutting ceremony marked a milestone in the capital’s hospitality sector, signaling a new era of sophistication and elegance.
Kempinski’s latest property is its first in Africa since the 2015 launch of Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City in Accra, Ghana. Developed by Saudi Arabia-based Al Othman Holding, the hotel combines architectural ambition with cultural authenticity, introducing the globally renowned Kempinski brand to one of Africa’s most dynamic capitals.
The inauguration ceremony featured local Congolese cultural performances, blending traditional African heritage with European-style elegance. Distinguished guests in attendance included President Denis Sassou N’Guesso, the Prime Minister, Cabinet ministers, members of the diplomatic corps, and executives from both Al Othman Real Estate Group and Kempinski Hotels.
“This is a proud moment for Al Othman Holding,” said Abdullah Mohammed Abdullah Al-Othman, Vice Chairman of Al Othman Holding. “Kempinski Hotel Brazzaville reflects our vision to elevate the standards of luxury and hospitality in the Republic of Congo, while celebrating the city’s rich cultural heritage. Together with Kempinski, we aim to create a destination that embodies elegance, progress, and socio-economic growth.”
Strategically located along Avenue Amílcar Cabral, overlooking the Congo River, Kempinski Hotel Brazzaville features 197 rooms and suites, ranging from Superior Rooms to the Royal Suite, all offering panoramic views. The hotel’s design draws inspiration from the surrounding forests and the flow of the Congo River, seamlessly blending Congolese heritage with sophisticated European interiors.
“We are delighted to introduce Kempinski’s European-inspired hospitality to Brazzaville,” said Paul Lonergan, Chief Operating and Asset Management Officer of Kempinski Hotels. “Our new property provides luxurious comfort while offering guests a gateway to explore the city’s vibrant art, music, and natural landscapes.”
Etienne Joguin, General Manager of Kempinski Hotel Brazzaville, added: “Our goal is to redefine hospitality in Central Africa, combining world-class service with deep respect for local culture. We look forward to establishing this property as a flagship destination for business, leisure, and cultural discovery in the heart of the Congo.”
Guests can enjoy a range of dining experiences, from La Capitale, an all-day European bistro with local flavors, to Café de Paris, a Parisian-style café serving light bites and pastries. The hotel also features Kempinski The Spa, a swimming pool, fitness centre, tennis courts, and a Kids Club.
With over 870 square meters of event space, including a 600-guest ballroom and four meeting rooms named after native African woods, Kempinski Hotel Brazzaville is poised to host international conferences, state events, and private celebrations, contributing to the city’s growing role as a hub for diplomacy, commerce, and tourism.
“Last week’s opening signals a new chapter for Brazzaville,” Joguin said. “It bridges tradition and innovation, combining Congolese spirit with Kempinski’s timeless European hospitality.”
