Hong Kong – Langham Hospitality Group has announced plans to expand its footprint in mainland China through the launch of a new luxury property in Jinan, the capital of Shandong Province. The project comes following the signing of a hotel management agreement with Jinan Licheng District Chuanfuh Investment and Development Co., Ltd.
The upcoming property, to be named The Langham, Jinan, will be located in Honglou, the city’s vibrant century-old central business district within Licheng District. The area is renowned for its rich cultural heritage and historic landmarks, including Hongjialou Cathedral, the Shandong Provincial Library, and the Shandong University campus.
Positioned at the intersection of history, innovation, and nature, Honglou has evolved into a major hub for business and commerce, while also emerging as a center for quantum technology and artificial intelligence. The district is further enhanced by its proximity to Jinan’s famous 70 natural springs, offering a distinctive setting for the luxury hotel.
Commenting on the partnership, Chen Wenping, Executive Deputy General Manager of Jinan Licheng District Chuanfuh Investment and Development Co., Ltd., said: “Our collaboration with Langham Hospitality Group marks an important milestone for us. The group is internationally recognized for its thoughtful and refined approach to luxury hospitality development. Inspired by Honglou’s cultural legacy, commercial vitality, and natural beauty, The Langham, Jinan is set to deliver an exceptional experience for both leisure and business travelers, while further elevating the profile of Licheng District and the city of Jinan.”
Bob van den Oord, Chief Executive Officer of Langham Hospitality Group, added: “We are delighted to partner with Jinan Licheng District Chuanfuh Investment and Development Co., Ltd. We look forward to introducing the renowned standards of The Langham Hotels and Resorts to Jinan, a city that continues to strengthen its position as a leading destination. This project also represents an important step in our broader expansion strategy across Shandong Province.”
The Langham, Jinan will feature 286 guestrooms and suites across approximately 35,000 square meters. The hotel’s design will draw inspiration from the brand’s 160-year heritage while incorporating elements influenced by Jinan’s iconic springs.
Guests will have access to a curated collection of dining destinations, including a new outpost of the group’s three-Michelin-starred Cantonese restaurant, T’ang Court, alongside a destination-inspired lounge, comprehensive meeting and event facilities, and wellness offerings by the group’s signature Chuan Spa brand.
The hotel is expected to open in 2029.
