Southeast Asia, Japan and the People’s Republic of China will be well represented when the UIM-ABP Endurance World Championships and UIM-ABP Aquabike World Championships take centre stage on Indonesia’s spectacular Lake Toba on November 22nd-26th.
As the clock ticks down to the season finale and what promises to be a thrilling three-day Endurance Championship at the Grand Prix of Lake Toba, Indonesia, Aquabike Promotion is delighted that Thailand, Cambodia, Japan and China will be among the 23 nations represented at the five-day aqua biking festival in the Toba Caldera UNESCO Global Geopark – one of five UNESCO global geoparks in Indonesia.
The Endurance Championship will be fought out over three days with three cups at stake (Karo, Dairi and Samosir) on November 22nd-24th and Thailand, Cambodia and China will be represented among the 24-bike entry. Ou Mouet Saly will represent Cambodia, Japan’s Hajime Isahei will compete, Permphon Teerapaptpanich will fly the Thai flag and Chen Shan will be aiming for glory for China. Saly and Shan will then take part in the two-days of Runabout GP1 competition on November 25th-26th.
Thirty-one-year-old Ou Mouet Saly represented Cambodia at the 2018 Asian Games and won a gold medal in the Men’s Modified Ski event. He also went on to claim a bronze in the Men’s Runabout 1100 Stock event. The Cambodian has been successful on the Jet Ski Pro Tour and has been an integral member of the renowned Flamingo Jet Ski Team.
Shan is a former entrant in the Pro-Am Endurance Open at the Jet Ski World Cup and has been seen regularly on other Asian races. Teerapaptpanich has taken part in the Pro Runabout 1100 Superstock Class at the International Jet Ski World Cup and is also a well-known face in Southeast Asian racing.
Hajime Isahei, who hails from Takasaki, races in the Jet Ski World Series and has achieved success in the Pro Runabout GP category. He was the first Japanese racer to win a Runabout heat in the UIM-ABP World Aquabike Championship, when he claimed the laurels in Moto 2 at the 2019 Haier Grand Prix of Qingdao.
Three additional Thai racers will join proceedings for the Grand Prix of Lake Toba, Indonesia: Mustan Min, Tanawid Molee and Tanawin Molee will compete in the Ski Division GP1 category alongside racers from a further nine countries.
The latter two have achieved success at the WGP#1 World Series and finished second and third in the Pro-Am Ski Stock division category last year behind fellow countryman Nantawat Singurai. Tanawid Molee was also the winner of the Novice Ski Stock class as a member of the Flamingo Jet Ski Team in 2021.
