Nizwa, Oman – Swiss-Belhotel International has announced the opening of Swiss-Belhotel Nizwa, marking a significant addition to its growing portfolio in the GCC and underscoring its commitment to delivering internationally recognized hospitality experiences across key tourism destinations in the Middle East.
The new hotel is the result of a strategic partnership between Swiss-Belhotel International and Bawareq Nizwa International For Investment SAOC, bringing a globally renowned hospitality brand to one of Oman’s most culturally rich and increasingly popular tourist destinations.
Commenting on the opening, Salim Abdullah Ahmed Al Abadi, Chairman of Bawareq Nizwa International For Investment SAOC, described the launch as a major milestone for both the company and the city of Nizwa. He noted that the project was conceived to complement the region’s rich heritage while supporting the continued growth of Oman’s tourism industry. Al Abadi expressed confidence that the hotel will contribute to local tourism development, generate employment opportunities, and further strengthen Nizwa’s appeal as a leading destination within the Sultanate.
Gavin M. Faull, Chairman and President of Swiss-Belhotel International, said the opening aligns with the group’s long-term expansion strategy in Oman and the broader Middle East. He highlighted Nizwa’s unique blend of cultural heritage, historical significance, and natural beauty, adding that the hotel reflects Swiss-Belhotel International’s dedication to delivering exceptional guest experiences while contributing to the development of Oman’s thriving tourism sector.
Located in the heart of Nizwa—one of Oman’s oldest and most historically significant cities—the upscale property offers guests convenient access to some of the destination’s most notable attractions, including Nizwa Fort, Nizwa Souq, Al Aqr Wall, and the scenic mountain landscapes of Jebel Akhdar and Jebel Shams.
The four-star hotel features 81 guestrooms and suites designed to cater to both leisure and business travelers, combining contemporary comfort with modern amenities and high-quality hospitality services.
Guests can also enjoy a wide range of facilities, including the signature Swiss-Kitchen Restaurant, Fort Café, meeting and event spaces, a swimming pool, children’s pool and playground, fitness center, sauna, and dedicated recreational amenities for families.
Laurent A. Voivenel, Senior Vice President – Operations and Development for EMEA and India, and Senior Vice President – Group Human Resources and Talent Development at Swiss-Belhotel International, emphasized that the property has been positioned as a gateway to authentic Omani experiences. He noted that today’s travelers increasingly seek destinations that combine cultural immersion with modern comfort, making Nizwa an ideal location for visitors interested in Oman’s heritage, adventure offerings, and natural attractions.
The opening comes as Oman’s tourism sector continues to gain momentum under the Sultanate’s Vision 2040 strategy, which identifies tourism as a key driver of economic diversification. Nizwa, in particular, has emerged as one of the country’s most sought-after cultural destinations, attracting visitors with its rich heritage, traditional architecture, vibrant souqs, and proximity to some of Oman’s most spectacular mountain landscapes.
