Genoa, Italy – Italian luxury yacht builder Tankoa Yachts has officially launched its newest superyacht, the 52-metre T52 Vitruvius M/Y Spirit, marking another milestone in the shipyard’s commitment to delivering highly bespoke luxury vessels.
The launch ceremony took place on 11 July at Tankoa Yachts’ shipyard in Genoa, where Spirit was introduced to the water in the presence of the yacht’s owners, invited guests, Tankoa’s management team, and the skilled workforce behind the project.

Following maritime tradition, the event included the blessing of the yacht and the official christening by its godmother before guests gathered for celebrations at the shipyard.
A true reflection of Tankoa Yachts’ boutique approach to yacht building, Spirit is a fully custom project developed around the owner’s original concept. The owner selected Tankoa to transform a bespoke Vitruvius Yacht Design concept into reality, highlighting the shipyard’s expertise in executing complex, tailor-made projects without compromise.
The yacht features naval architecture and exterior styling by Vitruvius Yacht Design, led by Philippe Briand and Veerle Battiau, while the interiors have been designed by Italy’s FM Architettura. Together, they have created a yacht that redefines contemporary luxury by prioritising wellness, privacy and a seamless connection with the surrounding sea.

Designed to accommodate up to 12 guests across six luxurious cabins, Spirit also offers accommodation for a crew of nine in five cabins. Every aspect of the yacht has been carefully planned to maximise natural light, open views and the flow between indoor and outdoor living spaces.
Large floor-to-ceiling glazing, full-height side windows and a two-piece glazed stern door flood the interior with daylight while offering uninterrupted panoramic sea views whether cruising or at anchor.
One of Spirit’s standout features is its wellness-focused beach club, centred around a spacious gym and spa that remains fully usable while underway. Opening directly onto an expansive aft terrace, the area creates a seamless transition between fitness, relaxation and the surrounding seascape. A stern plunge pool and fold-down side platforms further elevate the onboard experience, allowing guests to move effortlessly between exercise, recovery and swimming.
The interior design complements the yacht’s architectural vision through a refined selection of natural materials, soft textures and understated finishes, creating calm, elegant living spaces where light, openness and ocean views remain the focal point.

Powered by a full-hybrid propulsion system developed by E-motion, Spirit combines conventional engines with electric motors and battery technology to enhance efficiency and sustainability. The yacht reaches a top speed of 17 knots and cruises comfortably at 15 knots. Additional comfort underway has been achieved through specialist noise and vibration consultancy provided by van Cappellen Consultancy.
Throughout the engineering and construction process, Tankoa Yachts carried out extensive optimisation studies covering hull performance, weight distribution and overall vessel dynamics to maximise operational efficiency.
Commenting on the launch, Vincenzo Poerio, CEO of Tankoa Yachts, said: “A launch is always a special milestone. It represents the culmination of years of dedication, craftsmanship and collaboration. It is a privilege to celebrate this achievement alongside our clients and everyone who contributed to bringing the project to life. Spirit perfectly showcases Tankoa’s ability to transform an ambitious, highly customised vision into reality through exceptional craftsmanship and close cooperation with the owner and the design team.”
Following her successful launch, Spirit has entered the final stage of construction, with sea trials and technical testing now underway ahead of her scheduled delivery to the owner.
