Venice, Italy – Danieli, Venezia, A Four Seasons Hotel has officially reopened its doors, welcoming guests to a newly reimagined experience that brings together the grandeur of Venice’s historic heritage with contemporary design and the renowned hospitality of Four Seasons.

Located on the iconic Riva degli Schiavoni, the hotel offers a prime vantage point over the Venetian Lagoon, with spectacular views of San Giorgio Maggiore from its rooftop terrace. In many of the property’s rooms and suites, the Lagoon takes centre stage, revealed through curtains that part dramatically like those of a theatre.

The reopening marks a significant new chapter in the history of one of Venice’s most celebrated landmarks and represents the fourth property in Four Seasons’ growing portfolio in Italy.

A Historic Palazzo Reimagined

The hotel’s story dates back to 1471, when Palazzo Dandolo was built as the residence of the noble Dandolo family. Today, it stands as one of Venice’s finest examples of Venetian Gothic architecture. The property also encompasses Palazzo Casa Nuova, once home to the Treasury of the Venetian Republic, and Palazzo Danieli Excelsior, completing the hotel’s distinctive architectural ensemble.

The restoration of Palazzo Dandolo and Palazzo Casa Nuova was led by acclaimed interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon, whose vision combines the buildings’ historic character with a sophisticated contemporary aesthetic.

The hotel currently features 120 rooms and suites, with the total number of accommodations expected to rise to 168 following the completion of the restoration of Palazzo Danieli Excelsior in 2027.

Where Venetian Heritage Meets Contemporary Design

Rochon’s design concept explores Venice’s distinctive identity through an interplay of history, light and craftsmanship. The interiors draw their colour palette from the Venetian Lagoon, incorporating celadon greens, soft blues, terracotta, ochre and powder pink to complement the city’s marble façades, historic plasterwork and architectural details.

The experience begins in the lobby of Palazzo Dandolo, where a fully restored, hand-painted gilded ceiling featuring a quatrefoil pattern stands against an azure blue backdrop inspired by the Lagoon. The columns, stonework and grand staircase throughout the space have also been carefully restored by skilled artisans.

Natural light plays a central role in the design, with Venetian mirrors and reflective surfaces enhancing the sense of depth and perspective. Murano glass, terrazzo flooring and bespoke Rubelli textiles further celebrate the craftsmanship and artistic traditions of the region.

A curated collection of artwork adds another layer of cultural storytelling, drawing inspiration from the era of the Grand Tour, when Venice became a magnet for artists, writers and sophisticated travellers. Intaglios, Venetian engravings, antiqued mirrors and carefully selected decorative pieces reinterpret the city’s artistic legacy, creating elegant, residential-style interiors that reflect the timeless character of a historic Venetian palazzo.

Refined Rooms and Suites

The restoration of Palazzo Dandolo and Palazzo Casa Nuova has also transformed the hotel’s accommodation offering, introducing more spacious layouts and expanding the selection of Junior Suites and One-Bedroom Suites.

Guests can enjoy views across the Lagoon, Venice’s canals and rooftops, each offering a different perspective of the city. The redesigned rooms and suites combine classic Venetian elegance with modern comfort, while many suites feature generous living areas and flexible layouts that can be expanded through connecting rooms.

Technology has been seamlessly integrated into the interiors, with bespoke media walls incorporating televisions into carefully curated displays of artwork and decorative objects. Automated curtains, personalized lighting settings and intuitive climate controls allow guests to tailor their surroundings with ease.

Terrazza Danieli Returns With a New Culinary Experience

One of the hotel’s most celebrated features, Terrazza Danieli, has also undergone a subtle transformation. The renowned rooftop restaurant continues to offer sweeping views of the Lagoon and San Giorgio Maggiore while introducing a refreshed interior designed to enhance the setting without compromising its architectural identity.

Soft pastel shades, azure accents and muted golden tones replace the previous darker finishes, while mirrored surfaces reflect natural light and draw attention to the panoramic views. On the outdoor terrace, warm terracotta tones echo the hotel’s historic façade, allowing the surrounding Venetian landscape to remain the undisputed star of the experience.

Executive Chef Adriano Rausa leads the restaurant’s culinary offering, presenting a contemporary interpretation of Italian cuisine infused with Venetian influences. The menu focuses on seasonal ingredients and reflects the chef’s long-standing relationships with local producers.

Adding an element of theatre to the dining experience, several signature dishes are completed tableside, creating moments of interaction between guests and the service team.

The bar complements the restaurant with a celebration of the Italian aperitivo tradition, offering classic cocktails reinterpreted with a contemporary twist and inviting guests to take in the atmosphere of Venice from one of the city’s most iconic terraces.

Danieli Spa Set to Open Later in 2026

The hotel’s transformation is set to continue later this year with the anticipated opening of Danieli Spa. The new wellness facility will feature three treatment rooms, including a dedicated space for couples’ experiences, alongside a sauna and hammam.
