Ancona, Italy – Videoworks has completed the design, integration and commissioning of a comprehensive audio-visual, IT and communications ecosystem aboard the 67-metre, fully bespoke CRN superyacht Amor à Vida, creating a connected digital environment that brings together entertainment, automation, communications and cybersecurity.

Developed to meet the demands of both private ownership and charter operations, the system is based on a centralized architecture designed to simplify maintenance while delivering flexibility, reliability and long-term scalability. Instead of distributing equipment across the yacht, Videoworks has consolidated the AV and network infrastructure within dedicated equipment racks, resulting in a cleaner installation and more efficient technical management.

At the core of the installation is a high-performance IP network capable of distributing high-definition video and premium-quality audio throughout the yacht. The system gives guests access to entertainment across virtually every area onboard, while its scalable architecture allows new technologies and services to be integrated as requirements evolve.

The entire ecosystem is controlled through Crestron’s automation platform, enabling guests and crew to manage entertainment, lighting and other onboard systems via tablets and smartphones. A dedicated application for the yacht’s Electro-Technical Officer (ETO) provides centralized monitoring of connected equipment, as well as remote diagnostic and reboot capabilities designed to minimize downtime and simplify technical support.

Seamless Global Connectivity

Connectivity has been designed to provide reliable, high-speed communications wherever Amor à Vida operates. The yacht combines Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite services with traditional satellite communications and 5G connectivity, with internet speeds approaching 1 Gbit/s under favorable conditions.

A global VoIP telephone system, supported by Iridium satellite communications, provides dependable voice connectivity even when the yacht is operating far from terrestrial networks.

The onboard entertainment offering has been developed to rival that of a luxury residence. Guests can access worldwide television channels, streaming services, centralized movie and music libraries, content shared from personal devices and the Yachteye infotainment platform, which provides voyage information and onboard services. Smart televisions are also available throughout the crew accommodation.

Outdoor entertainment has received equal attention, with a dedicated cinema located in the crow’s nest and flexible exterior entertainment areas that can be rapidly configured for parties, live DJ performances and special events. Lutron lighting control enables customized lighting scenes, allowing the atmosphere to be tailored to different occasions.

Technology Supporting Yacht Operations

Beyond entertainment, Videoworks’ integrated platform supports the yacht’s day-to-day operations through professional crew communications, bridge announcements, CCTV and secure Wi-Fi coverage extending across the vessel, including technical areas.

Cybersecurity was incorporated into the system from the outset, while Videoworks’ remote monitoring services provide additional oversight to help maintain secure and reliable network performance.

Videoworks is also responsible for supplying the yacht’s airtime services, providing the connectivity infrastructure that supports its communications ecosystem. Through its 24/7 Network Operations Centre (NOC), the company continuously monitors the yacht’s connectivity and AV systems and can provide proactive remote assistance whenever required.

Traditional TVRO satellite television systems have also been incorporated to meet specific owner and charter requirements, ensuring continued access to broadcast television in situations where internet-based streaming may not be the preferred option.
